Cameron Hack

Cameron Hack

Taking photos of fading memories and traditions

Cameron Hack

Inspired by the photography project Humans of New York, Cameron Hack, a British photographer and teacher living in Beijing, China, decided to start his Humans of China project. In this talk, he takes us through some of his recent work, featuring minorities telling their stories. He reminds us that it’s important to talk with the older generation and record those memories before they are gone.

Born and raised in the UK, Cameron Hack was passionate about travelling from a very young age. When he started to work in China, he was in awe of what this country has to offer. Through a side project “Humans of China”, Cameron Hack is exploring the diversity of China, one picture (and a story) at a time.

Inspired by another project “Humans of Hutongs”, Cameron decided to start his own series, adding a new layer of stories and details. It is when working on this project that Cameron realized how diverse China is, “maybe myself or others will never really be able to comprehend all these, but I want to give it a go!”
