Are we ready for this complex world?
Linda Tan
We say “complex” all the time. A doctor might say a disease is complex. Economists study complexity theory. Wine experts might say, “This wine has complex notes.” But let’s be real—you might feel that love is the most complicated thing in the world.
Linda Tan is a social designer who works on making sense of complexity. In this talk, she hopes to offer us a new lens—a fresh way of seeing and navigating complex problems in the world around us.
Linda is a partner at Make-a-Point, a consulting firm focused on social good. She was born in Chengdu and immigrated to Toronto at the age of 11. She earned a B.Sc. in Biology, with minors in Physics and Math from the University of Toronto in 2006, followed by a Master’s in Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics in 2008. She then worked in research at Ontario’s Ministry of Health.
But after a year on the job, she made a big decision—to return to China and dedicate herself fully to reimagining rural education. She later became CEO of Tiandi Renhe, an eco-agriculture social enterprise in Guangzhou, and also served as a branding and communications advisor for the Gingko Foundation.
